Rebecca Ferguson, APRN is originally from Illinois, she has lived in New York and California but grew up in Florida. She earned her BSN degree at the University of South Florida in Tampa, Florida and her MSN at Jacksonville University in Jacksonville, Florida. She is currently working towards her Doctorate in Nursing Practice at the University of Alabama and recently co-authored a journal article in The Journal for Nurse Practitioners: “Full Scope of Practice for Alabama Nurse Practitioners: Act Now.” She has been employed in a variety of medical settings with her first nursing position in New York City where she worked with the team physician treating members of the NFL NY Jets, NHL NY Islanders and New York City Ballet. She was also employed at Mayo Clinic, Jacksonville for 14 years prior to becoming a nurse practitioner where she worked in a variety of settings through the clinic and hospital such as family medicine, orthopedics, bariatrics, pain, general surgery, employee health and PRN float pool. Since becoming a nurse practitioner in 2014, Rebecca has been employed through private practices in gastroenterology, pain management and currently continues working as a hospitalist nurse practitioner for the past 6 years in Citrus County, Florida.

If you are scheduled with one of our Advanced Practice Registered Nurses, who is licensed to practice autonomously, please know that the board of nursing has the authority to grant APRNs to practice autonomously under Section 464.0123 if the applicant demonstrates that they:

Hold a Clear, Active, Florida APRN License
Must not have been subject to disciplinary action as specified in s. 456.072, F.S. or s. 464.018, F.S., or any similar disciplinary action in any state or jurisdiction within the past five years.
Have completed at least 3000 clinical hours under the supervision of an allopathic or osteopathic physician within the past 5 years. These hours may include clinical instructional hours. See 464.123(1)(c), F.S. for complete requirements.
Submit proof of three graduate-level semester hours (or the equivalent) in differential diagnosis, and three graduate-level semester hours (or the equivalent) in pharmacology completed within the last five years.
When engaging in autonomous practice, an APRN must provide information in writing to a new patient about their qualifications and the nature of autonomous practice before or during the initial patient encounter.
